The Association of Independent Hospitality Professionals has spearheaded this program of free stays for active and retired servicemen since 2008. In past years its estimated that they have hosted more than $2 million in free room stays for Veterans during Veteran's Day celebrations. The association is comprised of small independent lodging owners who have a deep devotion to their industry, hospitality and commitment to honoring Veterans of the United States and Canada.

Bed and Breakfast Inns in the United States and Canada participating in the program are listed by state and province on the dedicated websites BandBsForVets.org and BBCanada. On these sites you will find a list of BnBs who are offering complimentary rooms on November 10 or 11, 2016, Veterans Day Weekend. Some inns have extended their offering of rooms through the month of November. Many of the BnBs have partnered with local businesses to offer additional amenities to Veterans. For instance, the White Fences Inn in the Hamptons, NY has partnered with local vineyards and restaurants to offer guided tours, dinners and gift certificates as well.

Veterans, active or retired, who are interested in booking a complimentary stay should contact the inn or bed and breakfast directly using the contact information on the BandBforVets.org and BBCanada website. Proof of military service is required. The Association of Independent Hospitality Professionals is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting small independent lodging owners, and the Veterans of Military Service in the United States and Canada.
