George W. Bush Sends Out Fundraising Pitch For Jeb Bush

"Hes got a tough road ahead -- take it from someone who's been there."

Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush, who insisted last week that he was a Washington outsider , is getting some fundraising help from one of his brothers, former President George W. Bush.

In an email to Jeb Bush's supporters on Thursday, the 43rd president said his brother was "a proven leader with an optimistic outlook and a clear, conservative agenda for America’s future."

"I wanted to make sure I asked for your support on behalf of my brother, Jeb," the former president wrote. "He’s got a tough road ahead -- take it from someone who's been there. With his strengths and your support, he will succeed. But he needs you."

Bush has sought to distinguish himself  from his family's long history in Washington, telling reporters last week that he would barely know how to drive in the city. Despite those attempts, he has been asked repeatedly about his brother's foreign policy in Iraq.

The candidate has already benefitted greatly from donors who gave to the campaigns of his father and brother, The Associated Press reported on Wednesday
