Hillary Clinton 'Breathing A Big Sigh Of Relief' After Iowa Caucuses

But a winner of the Democratic race hadn't been declared when she gave her speech.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said she was "breathing a big sigh of relief" after the Iowa caucuses on Monday.

"As I stand here tonight breathing a big sigh of relief -- thank you, Iowa -- I want you to know I will keep doing what I have done my entire life," Clinton said at a rally in Iowa late Monday night. "I will keep standing up for you, I will keep fighting for you, I will always work to achieve the America that I believe in."

But Clinton hadn't officially been declared the winner of the Democratic caucus just yet. With 95 percent of votes in, Clinton led Sanders by only a handful of votes.

In her remarks, Clinton clearly tried to paint herself as a worthy alternative to Sanders.

"I am a progressive who gets things done," she said in her speech.

Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), who had been stumping for Clinton in the state ahead of the caucus, said the campaign is leaving the Hawkeye State "with a victory," according to CNN :
