Jace Norman Talks Superheroes And Growing Up On 'Henry Danger'

And it feels goooood.

While superhero movies have been booming at the box office for nearly a decade now, another crime-fighting duo has been saving the world one piece of bubblegum at a time on Nickelodeon.

For the uninitiated, “Henry Danger” follows the adventures of Henry Hart (Jace Norman) as he navigates a double life, facing the challenges of being a normal teenager while managing the craziness being a superhero’s sidekick. The series has been one of the network’s highest-rated programs for the past three seasons and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

During a recent interview with The Huffington Post for AOL’s Build Series , Norman opened up about how “Henry Danger” pulls back the curtain on the daily life of a superhero and how the show has evolved since its early days.

“I think that what makes the show really great, in my opinion, is that the superheroes are the most irresponsible people and they should not be defending anybody,” Norman said. “They can barely take care of themselves. People still think, ‘Oh, there are these amazing superheroes,’ but you see the behind the scenes of us and we don’t even know what’re doing. I’m literally more mature than my superior superhero. You know behind the scenes it’s a mess, but you can see from other people’s perspectives it looks like we’re actual superheroes.”

Although “Henry Danger” isn’t afraid of a fight sequence here or there, much of the action takes place in a secret lair where a band of misfits help Captain Man, the town’s local superhero, to ward off evil, one mistake and crazy invention at a time.

One day, Norman hopes to play a big-time superhero (Nightwing, anyone?), but as for now, he’s content with the character development on “Henry Danger,” as the show has grown up along with him.

“Me and Henry grew at the same time. When I started, I was this nervous kid and then Henry was this nervous kid because he just got this job,” Norman said. “That’s kind of the transition I’ve been making in the show. [In] Season 3, the character of Henry has been going in that direction.”
