This Woman Reeled In A 1,305-Pound Marlin In Under 15 Minutes

The catch could set the new world record for the biggest blue marlin ever caught by a woman.

Jada Holt is a reel expert.

Holt, an expert angler from Hawaii, was fishing off the coast of Ascension Island in the South Atlantic on Saturday when she hooked a whopping 1,305-pound blue marlin .

What's more, Holt and her boat crew, which included her dad and husband , played tug-of-war with the massive marlin for only 15 minutes before Holt reeled it in , according to Grind TV.

If approved by the International Game Fish Association, Holt's enormous catch could set the new world record for the biggest blue marlin ever caught by a woman -- a record last set in 1982 , when an Australian angler landed a 1,073 pounder in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

But while Holt's catch is up for the women's record, it was only 71 pounds shy of breaking the men's IGFA world record, which stands at 1,376 pounds and was also caught in 1982 .

Holt is no stranger to breaking records.

In 2002, when she was only 10 years old, Holt landed a 95-pound ahi that won her a IGFA Smallfry World Record  in the tuna category, according to Hawaii fishing blogger Jim Rizzuto.

Today, she is currently tied for first place in the 2015 Hawaii Marlin Tournament Series, with one last tournament left in the season. And, if her latest catch is any indication, Holt probably won't have any troubles taking the final win.
