Brother Of Detained WaPo Reporter Jason Rezaian Hopeful About His Release

Brother Of Detained WaPo Reporter Hopeful About Release

It has been nearly four months since Iran detained Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian without charge , and while the government hasn't offered any information on his release, his brother is still holding out for his return.

Ali Rezaian told HuffPost Live's Alyona Minkovski that the Iranian government hasn't given the family any reason for Jason's detainment.

"They've said in the past that he may have done some things outside the bounds of journalism, but there were no specific activities that they've ever pointed to in the last 119 days that said Jason did anything wrong," Ali said.

Rezaian's family has had no contact with the Iranian government since Jason's wife, Yeganeh Salehi, was released after a 60-day detainment .

Asked about the likelihood of his brother's release, Ali confirmed that he remains hopeful.

"Jason was a good journalist. He loved Iran. He loved the work he was doing, and he loved getting a positive message out," Ali said. "I think at some point they're going to realize here that ... there's no reason he should be detained any further."
