John McCain Asks Apple CEO Tim Cook: 'Why The Hell Do I Have To Keep Updating My Apps'? (VIDEO)

WATCH: McCain Asks Apple CEO One Extremely Pressing Question
|

John McCain had some very tough questions for Tim Cook on Tuesday when the Apple CEO appeared before a Senate Committee for a grilling over the tech company's controversial tax avoidance strategies.

Here's the query that really struck a chord: "Why the hell do I have to keep updating my apps on my iPhone all the time and why you don't fix that?" McCain asked.

The question came just after McCain's time was up on questions and Cook didn't respond. But we're happy to field this one. Senator, if you're reading this, we consulted HuffPost's IT department and they informed us it's mostly an issue of consent and compatibility. Remember the iOS update that got rid of Google Maps? Thankfully you weren't forced into that update, and many iPhone users avoided it entirely .

Other Senators just wanted to let Cook know that they like are just, like, really really big fans of the Cupertino, Calif.-based company. Senator Claire McCaskill declared that she loved Apple. "I have an iPad right here," said Senator Carl Levin. "My granddaughter even knows how to use it all of it."

McCain has tackled a few big tech issues lately. Earlier this month the former presidential candidate railed against traditional cable television . We bet that John McCain's approval rating from techies is higher than ever.

We can't really blame McCain for taking the opportunity to vent a little. Let's face it: if you were in front of Cook, you'd have some words for him, too. Personally, I'd like to ask why my iPhone's battery dies so quickly.
