Kendrick Lamar And Quincy Jones Bond Over Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'

"A bad song cannot be saved by the three best singers in the world."

Hip hop's current "savior," Kendrick Lamar, recently met with one of his longtime musical idols.

Following last month's Billboard interview with NWA , Lamar had the chance to sit down for a chat with Quincy Jones, which was recorded for Hypetrak Magazine .

Throughout the 3-minute long clip, the Compton-native asked the music icon various questions, including about his studio experience working on Michael Jackson’s classic album, “Thriller.”

“We went through 800 songs. Because I learned 50 years ago, a great song could make the worst singer a star,” Jones said. “And a bad song cannot be saved by the three best singers in the world. So we went through 800 for Michael. We got a great singer. He's got a great song. It's over."
