Kim Goldman Recalls Disturbing Courtroom Moment After The O.J. Verdict

For months, Kim Goldman sat in a Los Angeles courtroom watching the 1995 murder trial of O.J. Simpson, the former pro football player accused of killing her brother, Ron, as well as Simpson's ex-wife. As prosecutors Marcia Clark and Christopher Darden sparred with Simpson's defense attorney, the late Johnnie Cochran, Kim desperately hoped for a conviction. Then, on October 15, 1995, the jury returned the not guilty verdict that divided the nation.

It's been 20 years since her brother's death, and Kim vividly remembers what happened in the courtroom in the moments that followed Simpson's dramatic acquittal. She tells "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" that she had a sinking feeling about the outcome.

"I don't think I believed, honestly, that we were going to get a guilty verdict," Kim says. "I'd been sitting in the courtroom for so many months watching the body language and the facial expressions that I just wasn't convinced."

Still, as soon as she heard the words not guilty, Kim crumbled. "I just fell apart, shaking and crying," she remembers.

Then Cochran allegedly made a remark that sent Kim over the edge.

"He looked over and he went, 'Gotcha,'" she says. "I pretty much was done at that point. We got up and walked out."

Kim shares more of her story on "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" this Sunday, June 22, at 9 p.m. ET on OWN .
