NETFLIX released its latest original series today, a reimagining of the classic Norman Lear sitcom, One Day at a Time. However, this One Day at a Time is more than a reboot; it is an homage to the original, updated for today and featuring a Cuban-American family. The cast stars Justine Machado as a former military mom navigating a newly single life. Shes raising two children with the help of her colorful and comedic mom played by legendary actress, Rita Moreno and building manager, named Schneider. Original creator Norman Lear serves as an executive producer for the 13-episode season.

This week, Moreno and I sat down to talk about this new show and its perfect balance of comedy and drama, told through relevant social and familial issues. We also chatted about notable moments in her career, now spanning seven decades, and she answered fan questions.
