LGBT Activists Arrested During North Carolina Bathroom Law Protest

Things escalated after a group of protesters headed to the state's legislative building to speak out against the law.

A group of activists, who were protesting North Carolina's anti-trans  bathroom law,  were arrested in the state's legislative building on Monday.

General Assembly Police Chief Martin Brock said the 11 protesters were arrested after refusing to leave Principal Clerk Denise Weeks' office, and would be charged with second-degree trespassing and violating building rules. The activists had entered the office and were demanding a meeting with a legislative leader.

They were just a small part of a larger group of hundreds of people -- lead by Rev. William Barber of the NAACP -- who were protesting the highly controversial law.
