Former President Donald Trump is set to surrender to Georgia authorities on Thursday on charges of plotting to overturn the state’s 2020 presidential election results.

Trump was indicted by a Fulton County grand jury on Aug. 14 with more than a dozen felonies, from conspiring to commit forgery to filing false documents to racketeering, in what was his fourth criminal indictment this year.

District Attorney Fani Willis had given Trump and his 18 alleged co-conspirators until noon on Friday to surrender. Several others have already done so .

Georgia law enforcement officials have been adamant that Trump be treated like anyone else processed through the Fulton County Jail. That means he is expected to have a mug shot taken, which no other jurisdiction prosecuting him has done so far.

  • Trump surrendered as expected and without incident, around 7:30 p.m. ET.

  • His widely-anticipated mug shot was released to the public shortly after.
  • A judge granted former Trump attorney Kenneth Chesebros request for a speedy trial, setting the co-defendants date for Oct. 23.

  • DA Fani Willis requested an earlier trial start for all co-defendants, though Chesebros new trial date only applies to him.

  • Trump and his attorneys pushed back against Willis proposed Oct. 23 trial date for all co-defendants and stated they would sever Trumps case from all other co-defendants who seek similar demands.

  • Fulton Countys official jail records list all 13 of the charges against Trump, including a RICO violation, several conspiracy charges, and filing false documents.

  • All other remaining co-defendants have until Friday 12 p.m. EST to surrender.

This case is complicated, for many reasons. These charges against a former president are unprecedented, not to mention the RICO charge against Trump and 18 co-defendants.

HuffPosts Paul Blumenthal talked to a leading legal scholar in Georgia, who laid out what we can expect from this trial over the next year.

Trump's Very First Twee... Er, X Post?

Trump published his first post since Jan. 6, 2021, on the platform formerly known as Twitter, sharing the same mug shot graphic he posted earlier to Truth Social.

The graphic was posted with no caption on his newly reinstated X account.

Twitter banned Trump from the platform days after the insurrection at the Capitol in 2021.

After taking over the tech platform, Elon Musk restored Trumps account in November 2022 following the results of an online poll.

Biden Solicited Donations As Trump Turned Himself In

President Biden used former President Trumps latest arrest as a way to solicit donations.

Apropos of nothing, I think today's a great day to give to my campaign, the president tweeted with a link to the Biden-Harris campaign website at the time of Trumps scheduled surrender, 7:30 p.m. EST.

Otherwise, the president has remained relatively quiet on Trumps legal issues .

Trumps Rap Sheet

Trumps booking sheet, released to the public by Fulton County, lists the 13 charges he faces and their offense dates.

The list begins with the Georgia RICO violation dated the day after Election Day, Nov. 4, 2020 and goes on to include solicitation of violation of oath by a public officer, conspiracy to commit forgery, filing false documents and more.

NEVER SURRENDER, the former president wrote an hour after he surrendered to the Fulton County Sheriffs Office.

Trump also featured the text "ELECTION INTERFERENCE," as well as a link to his campaign website.
