Italian Ice Shop Robbed By Man With Submachine Gun

Police are on the hunt for a man who allegedly robbed a Florida ice cream shop with what appeared to be a submachine-type gun, according to the Naples Daily News.

Two employees were closing up shop at Rita's Italian Ice in Naples on Aug. 23, when a man wearing a gray ski mask and holding what appeared to be an automatic weapon forced his way through the store's back door, NBC-2.com reports.

The suspect demanded the combination to the store's safe and ordered one of the employees to fill a bag with an undisclosed amount of cash. He told the two ice vendors to get on the floor in a back room and fled the scene, according to cops. Officers arrived at the shop at around 10:45 p.m.

Police describe the suspect as a 6-foot-tall man with a medium build and a small, black submachine-type gun, the Naples Daily News reports. He was last seen wearing a gray ski mask with a baggy sweatshirt and dark pants.

Cops tried to track the suspect using helicopters and a K9 unit, but failed.
