It's a happy day in Washington D.C., but the Obamas are seemingly feeling a bit blue. After donning a blue Reed Krakoff suit for President Obama's swearing-in ceremony on Sunday, Michelle Obama arrived at Monday's big Inauguration Day ceremonies wearing a blue checked coat by Thom Browne.

This is the second notable occasion in which FLOTUS has worn Thom Browne, having picked a gray Thom Browne dress for the third presidential debate in 2012. As Robin Givhan commented on NBC on Monday, "This is not a designer you wander into a mall and find."

On Monday, the first lady paired her collarless fit-and-flare coat with J. Crew shoes, just like in 2009 . Unlike 2009, FLOTUS now has a bangin' set of blunt bangs , first debuted last Thursday in an online video posted by the White House. The new hairstyle, Michelle's most drastic beauty change in the past four years, has been all the talk of the fashion (and non-fashion) world.

While Mrs. O chose Thom Browne, Malia sported a pink J. Crew coat with contrasting violet tights and Sasha wore a periwinkle Kate Spade coat also with coordinating colored tights (and a statement necklace -- Sasha loves her accessories... ). Each First Daughter also donned colorful flats.

More photos and footage will be rolling in throughout the day, but what are your first impressions on the Obamas' inauguration day looks? Tell us in the comments!

UPDATE: According to the New York Times' Eric Wilson , "Thom Browne's coat and dress for Michelle Obama are both made of silk jacquard based on a necktie fabric, custom made for the First Lady."

UPDATE II: Michelle Obama's necklace is by Cathy Waterman, reports political fashion expert Lauren Rothman .

UPDATE III: According to a White House official, Michelle is also wearing a Reed Krakoff cardigan underneath her Thom Browne coat and atop her Thom Browne dress.

UPDATE IV: For the actual Inauguration ceremony, Michelle belted her Thom Browne coat with a bejeweled J. Crew belt.
