Woman Pays Lottery Win Forward To Homeless Man

Sofia Andrade spent her $200 prize on a motel stay for him and set up a fundraising page.

Her $200 lottery scratch ticket win had barely registered when Sofia Andrade gave it all away to get a homeless man out of the freezing cold.

She paid for Glenn Williams to spend three nights in a motel after seeing him panhandling by a stop sign in New Bedford, Massachusetts, on Saturday night.

"He was holding a homeless sign, his hands shook and he was crying as the negative degree wind whipped his face," she wrote on Facebook .

The Good Samaritan then launched a GoFundMe page to give Williams a second shot at life -- and it's already raised more than $4,500.

The single mom-of-three detailed her selfless act on Facebook over the weekend.

She invited Williams inside her car after spotting him and they drove to a coffee shop, where she discovered he had no place to sleep and there were no spaces at local homeless shelters.

Andrade drove him to the Rosewood Inn in nearby Wareham for a three night stay, courtesy of her lottery scratch ticket win.

"It was then I knew why I won the $200, God placed Glenn in my path for a reason," she wrote.

After her campaign went viral, WCVB5 reported that a barber visited the motel to give Williams a haircut and locals donated warm weather clothes.

Andrade is now working on securing long term accommodation for Williams, who said that he "couldn't believe there's somebody" like her.

"She deserves a lot of the credit for where I am right now," he told WCVB5. "I'm overwhelmed with all the help and I just want to thank everybody."
