Adorable Photos Of Barack And Malia Obama Are #FamilyGoals

But as Malia prepares to go to college, POTUS is not ready to let go.

This is President Barack Obama 's final year in office, but the father of two is also facing another milestone in 2016.

Malia Obama, the president's eldest daughter, is gearing up to go off to college -- and if photos from the first days of 2016 are any indication, the president is squeezing in as much quality time with the 17-year-old as possible.

On the last day of their annual Hawaii vacation, the father-daughter duo seemed nearly inseparable during a family trip to the Honolulu Zoo .

"While younger daughter Sasha stayed close to her cousins, Obama walked hand-in-hand with older daughter Malia ," the Honolulu-Star Advertiser reported.

The happy duo were photographed again on Sunday  --  and again, hand-in-hand -- returning to the White House.

Talk about #FamilyGoals:

Malia, a high school senior, spent last year touring college campuses , including Ivy League schools like Brown , Princeton, Yale, the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia, which is the president's alma mater.

As Malia gets closer to starting college, Obama isn't holding back his feelings about her imminent departure from the nest. Last fall during a visit to a college in Michigan, the president almost teared up while talking about Malia becoming a young adult .

"Just yesterday, Malia started her first day of senior year. You know, I was sitting in her room because I was going to see her off her first day of school. She puts her head on my shoulder and she says, 'Daddy, you know, you realize this is probably going to be the last time that you ever send me off for my first day of school,'" Obama said during the speech.

"I had to look away," he added. "I didn’t want to just be such a crybaby. It makes no sense. Michelle and I are way too young to have daughters who are both almost in college now. So as a parent, I was a little freaked out."

President Barack Obama pretends to wipe a tear during his speech at Macomb County Community College Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, in Warren, Mich. The president said he's "a little freaked out" that his oldest daughter, Malia, just started her senior year in high school.

We feel for you, POTUS, we really do.
