Although there were some trends in 2012 that we hope to leave behind as we venture into the new year (hello, flatforms and neon ), there are a few with real staying power. As such, it may be time to start investing.

Kim Kardashian's pregnancy means that leather leggings (and pants!) are certainly here to stay. Peplums are sticking around as well, and we couldn't be happier, since they flatter almost any shape (amen to that). We also think that Solange Knowles may have single-handedly started a trend that will carry into 2013: clashing prints. Whether you do the mixing and matching yourself, or you buy an item that does it for you, offbeat colors and patterns continue to be all the rage in the coming year .
