Russia, U.S. Still Working Out Details Of Putin-Trump Meeting

They plan to meet at the at the G20 summit this week.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Kremlin foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov said on Monday that Russia and the United States were still discussing the time of the first meeting between presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump at the Group of Twenty summit in Hamburg this week.

Ushakov told reporters at a news briefing that both sides will definitely try “to find a narrow window” for the meeting.

When the Kremlin aide was asked about the agenda of the meeting he said: “I’ve heard the Americans want to raise issues of terrorism and Syria. It seems to me it would be pretty reasonable.”

Ushakov also urged the United States “to save us from the need to retaliate” against Washington for expelling Russian diplomats and to return its diplomatic property.

Barack Obama ordered the expulsion of the 35 Russians in late December and imposed sanctions on two Russian intelligence agencies over what he said was their involvement in hacking political groups in the Nov. 8 U.S. presidential election.

Putin said at the time he would not retaliate immediately.
