The Russian Plane Crash Investigation: A Timeline

On Oct. 31 , a plane flying from the popular holiday resort Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, to St. Petersburg, Russia, crashed in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, less than 30 minutes after take-off. All passengers and crew members on board were killed.

Numerous countries have scrambled to find out the cause of the crash, with Egypt and Russia taking the lead. The Islamic State's Egyptian affiliate has claimed responsibility  for the crash multiple times, but has failed to provide evidence for its claim. Many countries have suspended flights to and from the region, a move that could severely affect Egyptian tourism this year.
