Moon Prism Power, Make Up!

Sailor Moon R: The Movie is making its American film screen debut playing in select theaters during the month of January. Sailor Moon fans in the United States have been waiting for this moment for many years. In a recent interview with Charlene Ingram, VIZ Medias Director of Animation Marketing, she explained why the iconic anime series has a special place in the hearts of fans worldwide.

Theres that magic and that purity, Ingram stated. She continued, At the heart of the story, Sailor Moon, through the kindness of her heart and with the support of her friendsshe can save the world. It really translates to real life. Nobody who is a powerful leader does it alone. Nobody is perfect. You need your network. You need your friends. You need your family to be your own kind of Sailor Guardians to help get you through stuff. Ingram laughed, Its very empowering. Granted, its a magical girl show and its not actually real...but if somebody like UsagiSailor Moon, can overcome and still be this person who shines at the end of the day, I think that is something that we can all aspire to.

Sailor Moon first hit the airwaves in the United States back in 1995. It was the first animated series to present a variety of unique female characters that were strong and dynamic. Many fans in North America associate Sailor Moon with being a true leader in the girl power and feminist movement. The show was ahead of its time and inspired its viewers to think about life and people in a different light.

Peoplehumans, are attracted to good content. If you are this big, buff wrestler guy and Sailor Moon is your jam, that is just as valid as a little girl with a magic wand who thinks she is Sailor Moon. Any gender, any representation of who you are...people like good content, Ingram told me. She continued, There is this old stigma about how girls content doesnt sellthat is not true. Bad content has challenges. People have supported Sailor Moon so much. People are still super into it. New fans are discovering it every day. Little kids, people my age, guys, girls and pets. Its from the 90s but its still so fresh and relevant.

Sailor Moon is here to stay for the foreseeable future. Before departing, Ingram said, There is this worldwide coolness about Sailor Moon. I love how far it has come. When you go to a convention, it is amazing that Sailor Moon gets recognized on the level of Batman, Superman and The Flash.
