Sofia Vergara Shuts Down Tabloids Fake News Story Calling Her A Cheater

Sofia Vergara called out Star magazine on Instagram Wednesday after the tabloid claimed she was “caught cheating” on her husband, Joe Mangianello.

Their proof? The actress was supposedly seen without her wedding ring in Rome. But Vergara wasn’t having it.

“The editor of this magazine is an idiot,” she captioned an image of the magazine cover. “If he is going to have my ring removed to created a ‘fake’ ‘news’ he should have made sure that he removed from social media all the other pictures of that award night in Rome where I’m wearing it.”

“By the way...thats my friend the producer of the movie Bent that I was shooting in Rome and who came to spend Easter at my home the week later,” she added, along with the hashtags #starmagazinebullies and #goinventsh*taboutyourmother.

To back up Vergara’s claims, we did a quick image search. Here she is at the event in question, her wedding band clearly visible on her hand. 

And here’s another photo, showing her with producer Andrea Iervolino, who is definitely working on the film “Bent,” in which Vergara stars. 

In response to Vergara’s social media post, a spokesperson for American Media, Inc., Star’s parent company, told HuffPost via email:

Although Ms. Vergara has claimed that Star removed her wedding ring from a photograph on its cover that was taken during “that award night in Rome,” the photograph in which Ms. Vergara is pictured without her wedding ring was taken in Los Angeles on April 15, after she returned from Rome, and appears on page 34 of the magazine.
