To rush is to miss the experience Aniekee Tochukwu Ezekiel

I notice something every year around Labor Day, which as you know always falls on the first Monday of September.

Everyone wants it to be fall.

And guess what? Its actually not fall, its summer and for another three good weeks. Now, if were talking weather-wise, it depends on where you live but summer temps might stick around for even longer than that. Sometimes they do here in Long Island, and Ive found myself sitting in a beach chair as late as October.

It seems to me like we flip our calendars from August to September and people start yelling and declaring all things PUMPKIN and SWEATERS AND BOOTS and CROCKPOTS andHALLOWEEN and LEAVES and Im just over here like:

okay?

The thing is, life moves pretty fast. Really fast, actually. That happens without us doing anything at all and thats why people are always saying cliche things like:

I cannot believe its October already. HOW is it Monday?! The weekend JUST started! No way, Christmas is in two weeks? When did that happen??! I feel like your daughter was just born; shes ONE already?

Right? You do it, I do itwe all do it. So why, pray tell, are we also contributing to rushing life? When Labor Day hits, stop throwing on Uggs and that massive blanket scarf and enjoy the remaining weeks of summer. When you start dating that new guy/girl, stop trying to catapult things to the next level, and instead, appreciate the fun new beginnings. Instead of thinking about the next thing you can do or move you can make, focus on what youre doing NOW. Enjoy the moments, stages and positions youre currently in before you blink and they end up coming and going and you miss them.

Stop trying to rush life.

Instead, live it.
