The Surprising Lesson This 60-Year-Old Learned On Tinder

Monica Porter had just gotten out of a long-term relationship when she decided to turn to online dating.

What the 60-year-old learned after joining Tinder surprised her. The pool of men most interested in her were the ones half her age , as she chronicles in her memoir Raven: My Year Of Dating DangerouslySpeaking to HuffPost Live on Thursday, the author said that while she found the "older men" on Tinder were "by and large interested in finding younger women," she had more luck with men further from her own age.

"I was quite surprised to find that a lot of the younger men were really keen on looking for older women," she continued. "So there's this kind of odd disconnect between the different generations, but it was fine because I did meet a lot of quite nice guys. A lot of them were much younger than me."

The online dating app offered Porter an opportunity to "do a little bit of light dating," but she advises against looking there for more substantial relationships.

"If I was looking for a serious relationship or full-time partner, I don't think I would go on Tinder for that," she said. "I don't think that would be the place to look."
