Tig Notaro Shares How Her 'Masterful' Standup Set Brought Louis C.K. To Tears

How Tig Notaro Brought Louis C.K. To Tears
|

Comedian Tig Notaro is 17 years into her career, but her most legendary performance went down two years ago in Los Angeles, and it even brought Louis C.K. to tears.

Notaro experienced a slew of tragic events in a matter of four months: a break-up, the passing of her mother and a diagnosis of stage 2 invasive cancer. Instead of hiding behind her diagnosis (which she apparently found out just days before her set ), Notaro brought it to the stage at Largo nightclub for 30 minutes of what Louis C.K. called "masterful."

In the audience, listening to her set alongside C.K., were comedians Ed Helms and Bill Burr. Notaro told HuffPost Live's Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani on Monday that when she walked offstage, she wasn't expecting the reactions she received:

They were mouth-agape, stunned, teary-eyed. It was a very intense moment that I walked into. Being onstage was very intense. You know, its hard to impact other comedians, and this was just something I dont think any of us had ever really experienced. It made me emotional to see them so emotional and touched.

If we've succeeded at enticing you to listen to this set, you can purchase it on iTunes .
