Truck Driver Cheats Death After Stepping Onto Highway To Check Tire

Passing tractor-trailer almost wipes him out.

A truck driver in England diced with death when he stepped out onto a busy highway to check a punctured tire.

Video posted online appears to show him checking the wheel on the emergency lane of the busiest section of the M25 motorway that circles London.

As he bends down, a tractor-trailer zooms by and misses him by just inches. The close call happened near Heathrow Airport , reports Metro.

Steve Twamley, who runs the "Traffic  Management Near Miss & Safety " group on Facebook, posted the clip to YouTube and it's going viral.

"Whilst parked on the hard-shoulder of the M25 this operative is almost wiped out by a passing truck ," he captioned the footage.

"The driver would certainly have been killed had he not bent down by a few inches at the last moment to check the wheel," he told the Daily Star. It's not known exactly when the incident took place.

The M25 is 117 miles long, and circles London.  Built between 1975 and 1986, its busiest section -- between junctions 13 and 14, where the footage was filmed -- carries around 200,000 vehicles per day .
