Downtown Miami voted hard for Clinton, but it wasnt enough

Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump was the projected winner in a more than a dozen early states while Democrat Hillary Clinton won nine and the District of Columbia on Tuesday as the historic campaign to elect the nation's 45th president neared a frenzied conclusion.

Republican voters are turning out in droves to vote for presidential hopeful Donald Trump. So far he is the projected winner in over 12 states. But will it be enough? Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton has won 9.

The state voting went mostly as expected in the early stages. However, most experts agree the election is one by winning certain key swing states, Ohio and Florida among the biggest.

No crucial swing states had been claimed as of 9:53 p.m. Eastern Time; however, it is looking more nad more like Donald Trump has won the state of Florida and may be close to being named the winner in Ohio and Wisconsin as well.

Democrats were crossing their fingers for the four Senate seats they would need for a majority, and Republicans appeared on track to retain a solid majority in the House.

The famous battleground states of Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Colorado, North Carolina and Virginia are counting votes right up until the early hours of the morning. Trump's candidacy is viewed as a must-win in Florida, although even if he wins he will still have his work cut out for him.

Trump started his early lead with wins in Louisiana, Alabama, West Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, South Carolina, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Wyoming and Indiana.
