Vicente Fox Says Donald Trump Is Like A Piata -- 'Empty Inside'

When it comes to Donald Trump , former Mexican President Vicente Fox does not mince words.

Earlier this month, Fox was filmed smashing a piñata  that resembled Trump a popular novelty item in Mexico. In an interview published Monday, Fox told GQ he sees a lot of similarities between the Republican presidential nominee and his papier-mâché doppelgänger.

“Piñatas let you send messages. And the message is: Trump is empty inside. He’s empty in his head. That’s why I put my hand into his head. There was no brain there. That’s what he is, an empty person,” Fox said. “When has he spoken about compassion? When has he spoken about the poor?”

Later in the interview, Fox said that if he ever met Trump, he “would treat him like a piñata.”

“I don’t like that kind of people,” he said. “I don’t like his language, I don’t like his lack of compassion, I don’t like his selfishness. I don’t like him. I don’t want to meet him. I would treat him like a piñata if I meet him.”

“You would beat him up?” GQ’s Rebecca Nelson asked.

“Oh, yes,” Fox replied.

Trump has said many offensive things about Latinos, not least of which was when he slandered Mexican immigrants last year as “rapists” and “criminals.” He’s also insisted he’ll get Mexico to pay for the wall he plans to build along the U.S. border an idea Fox has roundly rejected.

“I’m not going to pay for that fucking wall,” he said earlier this year.

Fox has also criticized Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto for meeting with Trump, arguing that the reality TV star should not be welcome in Mexico.

“I think the President Peña is taking an enormous political risk by hosting Trump,” Fox told CNN in August. “If he’s gone soft on Trump, it will hurt him greatly. He will even be considered like a traitor because we don’t accept to be offended like we just heard, and it should not happen. He comes here with a smile on his face. I think this is a big mistake on part of President Peña.”

Fox stood by his criticism in the GQ interivew.

“I don’t know why an acting president, Enrique Peña, has a dialogue with a nobody,” he said. “With a loser. As I said, it was a big, big, big, big mistake on the side of Peña.”
