How Sony Missed Out On Inventing The iPod

"The Silo Effect" author Gillian Tett discusses how isolation hurts business.

Gillian Tett has an important message for business executives: if your company doesn't work cohesively, it's "deadly." She explores that topic in her new book, The Silo Effect , which details the detrimental repercussions of "tribalism" and "tunnel-vision" in an office environment. During a conversation with HuffPost Live on Monday, Tett explained how this phenomenon prevented Sony from capitalizing on its resources and creating a "digital Walkman" -- paving the way for Apple's iPod dominance in the process.
