I have a lot of family members who voted for Trump, as Im sure a lot of us do since half the country voted for him, minus three million votes, of course. Thanksgiving and the following holidays were a bit strained as we all knew that the words election, Trump, Hillary, votes, pussy, Russia, or dark ages could not be uttered. The only thing left to talk about was the weather, which is always a go-to topic for the elderly folks in my family. Today, I received a message from my cousin asking me if she is missing something because she has no idea why women are marching tomorrow. She voted for Trump and I have tried to wrap my head around how any woman (let alone my cousin) could vote for him and Im still a little stumped but this is what I responded with:

Trump is divisive, a racist, he's repealing insurance for millions, he's corrupt, he never released his tax returns, he mocked a disabled man and the FBI has concluded that Russia helped him win the election. Trump just recently paid out 25 million as a settlement for his corrupt Trump University. But we all know this and he still got elected so lets dive deeper into the, why march question.

Ive heard the argument that a lot of men talk like Trump does about women (locker room or not) but that doesnt make it right and it seems that ultimately, he downright hates women. Fifteen women have come forward accusing him of groping/sexually harassing them and they are not all lying. These are all very good reasons why people, especially women, don't like him. My girlfriend, Kristen Joy, who is actually in Washington D.C. to march said to me, The fact that even one woman could vote for Trump was a giant eye opener for me. It shows that women are really wounded from societys treatment of them, if they dont even realize that we should never ever accept that kind of behavior.

He has gone back on everything he said during the campaign (i.e. building a wall and not using taxpayer money) and he will deny saying something that he said on camera, even when there's proof he said it, he denies it. He's appointing people to his cabinet positions that are billionaires who have no clue what the job is and in my opinion, have no idea what it is to be a single mom living on minimum wages. I get why people voted for him, they want a change, they want to be rich like him. I really hope it's a positive change but he's showing that he is an immature misogynist by tweeting incessantly about stuff that shouldn't matter to a president elect.

I'm personally embarrassed by his behavior and on a worldwide level, everyone thinks America has lost its mind, all except Putin whose birthday came early. Trump wants to repeal Roe v. Wade, therefore, he wants to take away women's rights and the right to choose. The pussy hats are symbolic of a man that has disregarded women and is trying to put his will over the nation.

I can't even get into LGBT rights and what he wants to do to them. The LGBT community has come a long way but there is still many, many things they need to fight for and achieve. Every minority in this country is fearful now of a man who spews hate against everyone who isnt exactly like him: rich, white, and a male supremacist.

So the march to me is to say, "We will not go back 300 years! Women fought for the right to vote, they have the right to choose what's right for their bodies, to be a lesbian or love a man, and no one is gonna take that away!" As my good friend, Julie Dove, said to me, I am marching to send a message to our new administration that women will not go back. We cant be stopped. It will be women who lead in the uniting and healing of this country and for me, the march is a symbol of this.

I'm gonna lose my health care if Obamacare is repealed, so that's one of the many reasons I would march if I could. Ironically, I had to hurry to get my womens type of surgery done before it is too late. Im not able to walk with my fellow women, but Ill be there in spirit.

I have to respect why people voted for him (their words change) as I would like respect back to the fact that we now have a president who dictates over a democracy, who didn't respect Obama (he told everyone he was an illegitimate American and President) and who clearly doesn't respect women. Doesnt respect have to be earned: respect for respect? Women will march across the country to show their unity, their love and their respect for their sisters, brothers, the LGBT community, their children, and their country.
