Will & Kate Move Into Kensington Palace Apartment, Buy Lots Of Air Freshener

The Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge have finally moved into their new pied--terre in London -- Kensington Palace.

Although the name sounds luxurious, People reports that the couple will reside in a humble two-bedroom, one bathroom apartment within the palace, which contains several other apartments for royals as well as offices.

While Will and Kate will maintain their rented house in Anglesey, North Wales as their main home, Kensington Palace holds great meaning for Prince William, who along with Prince Harry spent much of his childhood in Princess Diana's apartment there, as the Telegraph recalled .

And although the Daily Mail has wondered whether Catherine, like Diana, will feel trapped in the paparazzi-surrounded edifice, it seems that she and her husband are settling in just fine: Us Weekly reported that the Duchess spent $1,458 on air fresheners and candles to get rid of the musty smell and added some throw pillows for a relaxed vibe.

Stuffy though it may be, the price is certainly right, as due to their senior royal status the pair will not pay rent, writes the Daily Mail .

The Kensington Palace apartment is only a temporary home. Come 2013, writes Us Weekly , the couple will move into a permanent residence in London where they can start a family.

That future home, it seems, won't need any freshening up: Us Weekly revealed that interior designer Kelly Hoppen will be responsible for the decor. Judging from the sample "London Apartment" on Hoppen's website, the Duke and Duchess will inhabit a seriously sleek and stylish space.
