So you want to go to Amsterdam. But you just looked in your bank account and you barely have enough money for your daily PSL fix. I totally feel your pain and thats why I want to show you what you can do/see/eat in Amsterdam on a budget. Because everyone should be able to see this city - youll fall in love .

If you dont do this when you go to Amsterdam, then I really start to question your life choices . Seriously, one of the best and most free ways to experience this city is to just walk around the picturesque canals. You can literally spend days walking through them (there are a total of 60 miles of canals ). Price: FREE

Now, if getting lost and figuring things out on your own isnt your cup of tea, there are free walking tours every day, thanks to Sandemans New Europe . Not just in Amsterdam, but they operate in most major European cities! The Amsterdam walk lasts around two hours and will take you to all the popular sites. Price: FREE

Geez, with all of this walking youre bound to get hungry. Or if youre like me, you just always have a reason to eat some street food. And Dutch food is basically the best . I tried three popular foods to munch on as I did the very hard work of exploring Amsterdam - Dutch french fries (with MAYO!), raw herring , and stroopwafel . I wasnt so much of a fan of the raw herring (I mean, come on), but if you like that sort of thing, you can find it literally EVERYWHERE. But how can you go wrong with fries covered in mayo/ketchup/mystery Amsterdam juices and two big vanilla wafers stuck together with a syrupy caramel? Price: 3 or 4 euros (depends on how much you eat)

Cool, so youve found your way to the most touristy place in all of Amsterdam . Even though youll have to push and pull other tourists to get a nice selfie in front of (or on top of) the famous iAmsterdam letters , this is one of the most beautiful places in the city. You can lay around on the many grassy areas on a nice day and think about how much money youre saving by following this list. If you have some extra cash on you (HAHA), you can spend about 17 to get into the three museums that dominate the square - the Van Gogh Museum , Rijksmuseum , and Stedelijk Museum . Price: FREE (unless you go to the museums)

If paying out the you-know-where to look at art isnt your thing, then good news for all of you cheap humans! There are some free museums in Amsterdam to feel more cultured than you probably are. Places like the Civic Guard Gallery , some of the Amsterdam City Archives , and Begijnhof , give you a sneak-peek at the cultural beauty that is Amsterdam. Price: FREE

Ok. Guilty as charged. This is my all-time favorite thing to do anytime that Im traveling. Just taking a seat in a cafe (not a coffeeshop, unless thats your thing ), ordering your capuccino, Instagramming that capuccino, and just watching as all of the people of Amsterdam walk by is one of the most satisfying things for me. Price: FREE

Yeah, this is a weird one. Why would you go to library when youre on vacation? Hear me out. The Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam (or the Amsterdam Public Library) is the biggest library in all of Europe and has some of the most beautiful architecture out there. Go in, grab a book, and head up to the top floor for one of the best views of the city! Price: FREE.

Confession time. I didnt actually rent a bike because I was too scared to bike in Amsterdam. Theres seriously SO MANY bikes in this city - almost 800,000 ! So needless to say, if I had tried to ride around here, Id be writing this post from a hospital bed. But if you want to take the plunge and bike around the kingdom of bikes, theres plenty of shops for you to rent one . Price: Around 25 euros.

If you love plants as much as I do, then this one is definitely for you. The Bloemenmarkt (Flower Market) is the biggest FLOATING flower market in the world and has been going at it since 1862. Ok, its not literally floating anymore, but close enough, right? Walk through all of the stalls and youll find all kinds of flowers to look at and take Insta pics of. Price: FREE (unless you buy something)

If you dont go to Vondelpark while in Amsterdam, youre just living life wrong. Seriously, its like going to New York without going to Central Park. Its absolutely beautiful and is the biggest public park in the city. Especially on a sunny day, its the perfect spot for a picnic with friends or to just hang out. You wont regret it! Price: FREE.
