The 5 Elements are all interconnected, and at the center of everything is YOU!

I want to share with you something that I believe we all know, but dont fully realize.

Are you ready?

Here it is...

Everything is interconnected. Yep. Seems easy enough to understand. But, lets give it a definition.

Interconnected is defined as: 1. mutually joined or related and 2. having internal connections between the parts or elements according to my good ol friend, Merriam-Webster. With that in mind, lets dive in a little on this idea of mind and our thoughts/feelings.

If youve never heard of Masaru Emoto, youre about to! Emoto:

  • discovered that molecules of water are affected by our thoughts, words, and feelings.
  • found that water that had been exposed to loving words show brilliant, complex, and colorful snowflake patterns.
  • BUT, when water was exposed to negative thoughts, the water molecules didnt form completely, had asymmetrical patterns, or dull color in other words, they were kinda ugly.

So, given that our bodies are over 70% water, this is a BIG deal! Our bodies react to intention in a scientific matter, according to Emotos extensive studies.

What does that mean for us? It means that our words and thoughts are POWERFUL.

So, the next time we think something negatively about ourselves or others, know that those negative thoughts and feelings affect more than you think.

How do we apply this knowledge to our environments?

We need to understand that our environments help to shape our thoughts and feelings. Not to mention that when it comes right down to it, in feng shui at least, the 5 Elements are ALL interconnected and dependent on each other. Yin and yang are interconnected. Dao is about interconnection.

It also goes without saying that when it comes to our environments, if its out of balance, our thoughts and feelings will be out of balance, too. How many times have you arrived home to a porch or entry way that was obstructed or otherwise abysmal to the eye? How many negative feelings about your environment and yourself do you absorb on a daily basis? I know that Ive done my share of harboring some pretty negative thoughts. But, thats no way to live!

So, we need to make sure that our thoughts are as uplifting, positive, and supportive as we can! A cluttered, disorganized mess with mementos from the past that dont serve you anymore will more often than not contribute to those negative feelings and thoughts, leaving the chi (energy) stagnant or non-existent! Surround yourself with items that hold positive memories and associations. Things that bring a smile to your face. Colors and textures that you LOVE. Art that makes your heart SING!

You are the keeper of your own happiness. Your words and emotions can transform your life. And your environment is there to support you!

And, if you want to freshen up your water, take a page from Dr. Emoto. Write your intention on a piece of tape and place it on the glass that youre drinking your water from. Give it a try!
