IRIN is one of the leading sources of original, field-based reporting and analysis about humanitarian crises, from conflict and migration, to food insecurity and natural disasters. After 20 years as part of the United Nations, we spun off and became a non-profit independent news organisation, established as a Swiss association in 2016. Our mission is to put quality independent journalism at the service of the most vulnerable people on earth. Our content gives unique, in-depth perspectives on crises of the day while shining a spotlight on those that are forgotten, neglected or misunderstood. Through a global network of more than 200 local correspondents, experienced editors and analysts, and an intimate knowledge of the humanitarian sector, we provide insider multimedia news and analysis from hotspots in more than 70 countries.
