Disney has found yet another way to capitalize on the mind-boggling success of "Frozen." The record-breaking animated film will become an ice-skating spectacular in September.
The Disney on Ice production will feature 39 skaters and will tour around the country, the New York Times reported. The tour is scheduled to start in Orlando, Florida, and will have six different versions trekking through the country between 2014 and 2015 . Nine tours will travel overseas.
The show will follow the original plot of the movie, which became the top-grossing Disney film of all time when it surpassed $1.063 billion (the earnings from "Toy Story 3"). Fans of "Frozen" can expect a ginormous man-made blizzard (thanks, Elsa), a simulated version of the film's North Mountains and live performances of the soundtrack's greatest hits, including "Let It Go."
Disney on Ice announced the news on its website and Facebook page with the image above and the description promises that Mickey and Minnie Mouse will host the show. There will also be special guest appearances from other Disney princesses and characters from "Toy Story," "The Lion King" and "Finding Nemo."
Feld Entertainment holds the licensing for Disney on Ice and has produced shows domestically since 1981. Usually the productions take scenes and musical numbers from different Disney films, but the "Frozen" spectacular will be based mostly on the original movie starring Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Jonathan Gross and Idina Menzel.
