I was skeptical about buying this but Im very happy with my decision - its one of those things that actually does what it claims to do. I bought the counter top style because we dont travel that much anymore so I cant answer the question for traveling or Portability. I can say its worth the money and much less expensive than the one my dentist tried to get me to buy from him. When I use it (before brushing) I can see particles of food going into the sink and my teeth feel very clean. By the time it is finished pulsing, Im ready to brush and I dont feel I have to floss nearly as much (if any) after using it. I talked to one dentist who said theres really no need to floss if you put it on a high enough setting - Im up to 9. I know some people might not be able to stand it that high (it goes up to 10) so Im speaking for myself (Im 73 years old) and not giving any kind of advice; just what works for me. My gums have never felt so good. My teeth have never felt so clean. Maybe tmi, but I literally saw the debris from between my teeth running into the sink. I have a hard time flossing my wisdom teeth, and this absolutely does it. It felt amazing. I imagine its how a dog feels when youre scratching them and find the spot and their leg starts kicking. Way faster and less frustrating than floss and feels a million times better after. I do wish I didnt have to keep refilling BUT will still give it 5 stars because I like the size of the unit and dont want it any bigger. Its pretty low profile for what it is and compact enough to stash between uses or leave out. Jb
